Ana Diez wins an academic scholarship to study engineering in the United States.
Originally from León, Ana studied high school at the “Peñacorada International School” (León) where she graduated with honors. The young student finished 2nd year of high school with a grade of 10 and an average high school grade of 9.8.
Ana is the middle child in a family of 3 siblings. Every day she traveled 150 km to go to school. In spite of this, Ana combined studies, driving license and also daily sports.
Ana had everything against going to the USA. On the one hand, her father told her that if she left she would never come back. On the other hand, her mother argued that it was better to study in her own language. On the other hand, her grandmother thought she was too young to go so far away and her friends thought she was crazy. She only had the support of her English teacher José Ramón. However, nothing made her change her mind and Ana with solid arguments managed to change everyone’s opinion.
Since last August, Ana has been studying Biomedical Engineering at Wichita State University on an academic scholarship.
Ana will enjoy live basketball games of the “Wichita State Shockers”.
